GRACIOUS ONZE RUST WILL REMIND YOU OF DAYS GONE BY
The historic Onze Rust dating back to 1715 no doubt played a role in the history of the area. The original home built on the property, the old Victorian House, lends an old-world feel to Onze Rust. The Victorian House is located only 50 metres from the natural water spring, and recalls an era when houses were built with thick clay walls to keep the building cool in summer and warm in winter. However, the Victorian House may be an even older abode that was later adapted to look Victorian. The house has its own story, having sustained major damage in two fires over the years. Yet it was restored to its former glory on each occasion.
No pesticides or fertilizers have been used on the land at Onze Rust. This, together with the natural habitat of trees and the natural water features, attracts a wide variety of bird species and small wild animals to the property. Onze Rust is home to falcons, fish eagles, owls, Hadedah, duck, geese, otters and squirrels.
The vision of Ester Bezuidenhout, owner and proprietor of Onze Rust, is to establish a place of hope and inspiration where people can come to rest, to re-align their lives, and to grow. The farm is associated with many stories of overcoming personal misfortune and of average people becoming role models to others. These stories are told at Onze Rust as an inspiration to others.
Come and revive your inspiration at Onze Rust
